Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre

If you are a fan of everything aquatic, look no further than the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre. Adults and children alike will love a visit to this fun, interactive, and educational center that brings you to the bottom of the ocean to experience aquatic plants and animals from all over the world. Located in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, this science center is a must-see for visitors of all ages.

The idea behind the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre is to conserve and save animals and plants all over the world. For instance, it works to protect sea turtles that live on the Pacific Coast. The Leatherback turtle that lives on the British Columbia coast is a phenomenal species of reptile that needs to be protected from boats and fishermen.

The Salmon conservation program is another one such series of conservation programs that the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center pursues with missionary zeal. This involves tracking schools of salmon to make sure that their trek upstream to spawn passes off smoothly. The center also educates the public against reckless fishing of various species of salmon and their famous journey.

For the kids, the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center offers great opportunities for learning all about marine mammals like whales, dolphins, sea lions, seals and many more. The center also maintains a rescue program that rescues wayward and injured mammals, allows them to recuperate before returning them to their natural habitat. Visitors can also enjoy various exhibits of these marine mammals, including the new entrant to the center- a dolphin.

Kids love to come to the center to participate in the several hands-on and interactive programs that teach them about plants and animals that live under the sea. If you visit a tide pool you get a chance to gently handle wildlife, including sea urchins and sand dollars. Basically, the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center seamlessly combines education with entertainment.

Those of you having a favorite among marine animals, the Center runs family oriented programs to get up close and personal with your marines. The Beluga whale tour is one such program where you can touch the whale, train it, and even make their dinner. The trainer tour allows you to understand the behind the scenes activities at the center. You can also spend the night in the aquarium!

Exhibits showcasing the variety of aquatic flora and fauna near and around British Columbia are also showcased at the Center. Here you would be amazed to see the rich diversity of these marine animals like salmon, various fishes, crustaceans and various plants and that are in this area.

For those individuals wishing to travel many miles from Vancouver and deep into the tropical rainforests of South America, look no further than the great Amazon Rainforest exhibit filled with unique and interesting creatures that are native to the Amazon River and river basin.

The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center is a must-see for kids and adults. It is located in the lovely Stanley Park no more than five minutes from downtown Vancouver.
